There is the option to book a pre tour night of stay at our group designated hotel in Adelaide.

The transfer from Adelaide Airport to the hotel will be at your own arrangement. The hotel check in will be in the afternoon from 2PM onwards. If you would like to arrive prior to this time, feel free to leave your luggage with the hotel and return later to check in.

We will coordinate a group meet up at the hotel for 6:30pm. Walkers generally take advantage of this ‘meetup’ to enjoy a drink or even a meal together. The evening is not hosted so group members can make these arrangements between themselves, once they meet up.

DAY 1 – FRIDAY 30 MARCH 2018
Adelaide  - Kangaroo Island

Beginning in Adelaide, we have an early morning meet up at 6:10am for a 6:20am departure from the hotel, to transfer to Cape Jervis, where we board the Sealink Ferry. On arrival to the ferry terminal at Cape Jervis, there will be option of getting some breakfast (at your own expense).

*** Be ready in your walking gear ***

We board the Sealink Ferry at 8:30am for a 9am departure for a very scenic 45 minute crossing, known as the Backstairs Passage, to Penneshaw and Kangaroo Island.

Should I/Shouldn’t I have breakfast this morning?
We’d suggest something to eat before joining the trip. The journey down to Cape Jervis Ferry Terminal is about an hour and a half. We can let guests get off the coach once we are in position to board the ferry. The terminal has a cafe so getting a coffee and muffin is not a problem. Then it’s a 45 minute crossing followed by our first mornings walk. Otherwise, lunch is not offered until around 12.30pm.

Disembark from the ferry and head to the Island Beehive for morning tea (at guests own expense). Here you can try a unique Ligurian or Honeycomb Latte, or the infamous Kangaroo Island home made honeycomb ice cream. This is followed by a 30 minute guided tour of the Beehive (tours run every half hour).

From there it’s onto Seal Bay where we head down to the beach with a local ranger and take part in a tour of the sea lion colony. We have lunch after our tour and then enjoy a short walk to Weirs Cove Hike. This trail houses ruins of storage buildings and the Cape Du Coedic lighthouse can be seen in the distance as you approach the historic cottages. This great little walk is an absolute delight.

Distance: - walk 1.5 kms to Weirs Cove
walking time: 25 mins

Kangaroo Island

A short drive from our front door this morning is Hanson Bay. From here we head off for our day's walk to Kelly Hill Caves.  We walk along the Island's best known walk, the 10 kilometre Hanson Bay Hike.

Once at Kelly Hill Caves we take a tour of the caves and appreciate their amazing limestone formations. We’ll also stop here and have a cup of tea/coffee and a biscuit, then, it’s back to our accommodation to explore the nearby formations of Admirals Arch, home to thriving colony of Australian and New Zealand Fur Seal.

Dinner this evening is a two-course meal prepared by your guides.

Distance: 10km

DAY 3 -  SUNDAY 1 APRIL 2018
Kangaroo Island

We get things underway with the spectacular Snake Lagoon walk. The trail follows Rocky River and the beach at the end reveals spectacular views of the Southern Ocean.

We then visit Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary to take a leisurely stroll down the famous koala walk and view these relaxed animals enjoying the shady eucalypt trees. There is a café onsite so guests can grab a coffee if they wish.

This evening, we head to the famous Remarkable Rocks. Your guides will again prepare your two course meal this evening.

Distance: 6 km
Walking time: 2 hours

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Depart to return to Adelaide

It will be hard to leave our cosy surrounds, but after breakfast and lunch making we head off to catch the 10am ferry back to the mainland. We then visit Deep Creek Conservation Park. The views overlooking the Southern Ocean are vast and the track itself is easy. The park is the largest remaining block of wildlife habitat on the Fleurieu Peninsula and is home to an array of native wildlife. The walking trail provides spectacular scenery of the Backstairs Passage, Kangaroo Island and the rugged Deep Creek valley.

Return to Adelaide Airport.

About return flights:
Return flights should be booked from 5pm onwards, and we recommend 5.30pm is better in case of any unexpected delays.
