OVERVIEW

Solos Only

If you enjoy active travel you’ll love this trip that combines the best of trekking and visiting some of China’s most renowned cities and their highlights.

From Beijing, commence your trip with your Great Wall hike from outside Beijing. It combines a classic section of the Great Wall to explore the unrestored, ancient wall and the restored sections at Jinshanling, Jiankou and Mutianyu.  Your walking expedition will show you life in regional china with local guest house stays. Each day take in the immense view of the wall as far as the eye can see.  This is a walking experience, like no other.

After your incredible Great Wall hike, take in the highlights of Beijing, Xian and Shanghai, with guided touring throughout.

In Beijing we visit the capital’s major historic sites such as the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. We also indulge in the culinary delight that Chinese cuisine is so famous for. The Beijing food experiences will no doubt be one of the highlights of this entirely unique adventure before we head to Xian to visit the famous Terracotta Warriors ‑ an extraordinary sight of warriors arising from their muddy grave; some intact, others still submerged in the earth. Our journey concludes in the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai.

While staying at the local inn’s lunch is simple and for a few of the walking days you will be provided ingredients to pack your own lunch. As a guide, expect eggs, biscuits, rolls, dried and/or fresh fruit. Spreads such as peanut butter and jam, and deli meats or tinned fish may be offered. You may like to bring some protein bars/snacks from home to supplement these lunches. It is not that food is lacking but rather it may not be what your accustomed too and bread is usually simple, white bread.

'Just back from an AMAZING trip to China, walked remote parts of the Great Wall - often totally free of other tourists with an expert, knowledgeable & friendly guide. Experienced all the cultural highlights of Beijing & Shanghai & the wonders of the Terracotta Warriors. Made all the more special by sharing it with a small group of like minded people. I would highly recommend this trip.'
