GREAT WALL TREK MEALS:
Breakfast will offer a good start to a day’s trek. White bread, or local Chinese home-made bread, noodles, eggs and rice are staples for breakfast. Dumplings for the night before may be offered at the local inns for breakfast. Tea and coffee.
While staying at the local inn’s lunch is simple and for a few of the walking days you will be provided ingredients to pack your own lunch. As a guide, expect eggs, biscuits, rolls, dried and/or fresh fruit. Spreads such as peanut butter and jam, and deli meats or tinned fish may be offered. You may like to bring some protein bars/snacks from home to supplement these lunches. It is not that food is lacking but rather it may not be what your accustomed too and bread is usually simple, white bread.
Dinner will be plentiful including dishes such as rice and/or noodles with vegetables and the meat is usually chicken. The local inn where we stay will make the meals for the group and we dine together.
Chocolate or sweets of western style are not regularly found. If you have a sweet tooth for chocolate we suggest bringing it with you.
