REVIEWS

'I would highly recommend a holiday with Encounter Travel. My trip was well organised and the co-ordinator was fun and helpful and full of energy. I met some great people of all walks of life. There is a good mix of organised activities and free time. I had a blast.'

'Thank you for your organisation of a great holiday. As a first time traveller with Encounter, I didn't know what to expect. The Red Centre is indescribably beautiful and should be on every Australians' bucket list. We saw every sensational attraction in just the right order - each new experience was more incredible than the last. Thank you for recruiting such a great group of people for my travelling companions. The hotels were clean and very comfortable and it was a pleasure to be transported across such an amazing landscape so comfortably. I learnt so much about our wonderful country and wished I had done such a trip years earlier.'

  • All-inclusive meals, fine wines, and beverages
  • A regionally-inspired menu paired with a selection of local wines
  • Off train experiences in Broken Hill and the Blue Mountains

DAY 1

Adelaide to Broken Hill

A mid-morning departure from the Adelaide Parklands Terminal platform and you soon find yourself gazing at the remarkable rock formations of the Flinders Ranges. The rocky scenery gives way to outback scrub as you make your way to Broken Hill in the early evening. With its harsh arid landscape – often featured in cinema for its unforgiving, lunar-like appearance – Broken Hill offers a range of fascinating Off Train Excursions that highlight and celebrate how industrious locals have adapted to their incredible outback home.

Meals: Lunch, Dinner

DAY 2

Blue Mountains & Sydney

Awake to the splendour of the Blue Mountains. Disembark the train and marvel at the expansive views and natural surrounds. Take a walk through the eucalypt forests or take the cable car for a bird’s-eye view of this World Heritage listed landscape before completing your journey on our dedicated NSW rail service (hosted by our staff) into Sydney Central Station. Alternatively, stay on board to travel directly to Sydney.

Each of the three dining carriages has its own ambience and personality. The Queen Adelaide restaurant evokes the golden era of rail with an art deco atmosphere, the Outback Explorer Lounges offer camaraderie in a relaxed social setting, (while the Platinum Club impresses with its quartzite tabletops, timber flooring and brass fittings for our Platinum Service guest).
