OVERVIEW

Solos Only

The fabulous Voyager of the Seas is cruising to the South Pacific for New Year’s Eve. Join our exclusive solo traveller group and celebrate in style.

We have three cruise groups this year to celebrate New Year’s Eve; this one and another option to cruise to New Zealand on board Ovation of the Seas. Also, our group on Radiance of the Seas departs 22 December 2017 and includes Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations - we hope it’s not too hard to decide which one to choose.

As part of our group exclusively for solo travellers, you will enjoy nightly group dining in the magnificent three-storey Sapphire dining room, pre dinner evening meet-ups and nightly entertainment.

While there’s days at sea to enjoy the multitude of activities and entertainment offered on board Voyager of the Seas you can also take advantage of the many shore excursions on offer. The itinerary see’s us visiting ports of the South Pacific including Mystery Island and Vila, Vanuatu; Suva and Lautoka, Fiji;  and Noumea, New Caledonia.

Embarking, 30 December 2017 your cruise starts with a group meeting with your group co-ordinator before later meeting up for pre dinner drinks and our group welcome dinner. It doesn’t take long to settle into this celebratory cruise.

A highlight is the New Year’s Eve spectacle of entertainment put on by the Ships entertainment crew.  There are also lots of other evenings of impressive entertainment, music and dancing. This cruise is all about kicking up your heels and letting your hair down.

Make New Year’s Eve 2017 one to remember – join our solo traveller group on board Voyager of the Seas.

ABOUT THE FIRST DAY – SATURDAY 30 DECEMBER 2017
Sydney, Australia
Departs 6:30pm

Royal Caribbean International offers check-in by deck level to better enhance the check in and boarding experience.  As a guide, these times are likely to be between 11:30am to 4pm.  The exact times are available closer to the time of sailing.

Lunch is available in the buffet dining room (Windjammer Café) on embarkation day. There is a mandatory safety fire drill once all guests have checked-in which is prior to the ship sailing from port.

In the afternoon, the group will have a designated meeting spot for a group briefing with your group coordinator from Encounter Travel. Also a meeting spot will be arranged for pre dinner group drinks (drinks at your own expense).

Dinner is in the main dining room with tables dedicated exclusively to our group.

DURING THE CRUISE
On cruising days (when the ship is not in port) your group coordinator will arrange group ‘meet ups’ throughout the day.  As examples; this may be a morning ‘meet up’ for a coffee, an afternoon ‘get together’ for some fun on the rock climbing wall or a round of mini golf, or meeting up for one of the many ship hosted activities.
Each evening, our group coordinator will host pre dinner drinks * at one of the ship’s bar and our group dinner service in the a la carte restaurant.  There’s a show each evening and your coordinator will lead the way when it’s show time.

If you are joining one of our groups or a cruise group for the first time here’s some insight into what to expect.

ABOUT THE LAST DAY – SATURDAY 13 JANUARY 2018
Sydney, Australia - Arrives 6:30AM

Your group coordinator will request a group disembarkation time. This is arranged a few days prior to the final day and communicated by your coordinator. We will request a group disembarkation around 8 to 8:30am but it’s at the discretion of the ship.  For any passenger that needs to make an early disembarkation, it’s just a case of going to the Guest Relations desk and advising them you require an early disembarkation. If you make special arrangements with Guest Relations, then disregard group disembarkation instructions.

MORE ABOUT YOUR CRUISE HOLIDAY

PRE DINNER DRINKS
The evening there is the option to join your group co-ordinator and group members for pre dinner drinks (at your own expense) at one of the ship bars/lounges. The location will be nominated and advised by your group co-ordinator.

DINING
Our group has an 8pm group reservation in the elegant main dining room. There’s also the option to dine at your leisure in the main buffet restaurant or at the speciality restaurants. If you are accustomed to dining earlier we recommend a snack or light meal from the main buffet restaurant or one of the cafes on board that will tide you over until our group dinner seating. Rest assured, you will never go hungry on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship.

GROUP COORDINATOR
A group co-ordinator is included for the group when there are 16 or more group members. As groups for past New Year's Eve cruises have been between 35-65 passengers, we expect that a group co-ordinator will accompany the group.

The group coordinator's role:

  • To liaise with the ship personnel on behalf of the group for group dining in the evenings.
  • Your group coordinator will be available at evening pre-dinner drinks and dinner and various nominated times throughout the cruise. Your coordinator will nominate a group venue for evening pre-dinner drinks and communicate this to the group.
  • Also, they will arrange the group photo with the ship (1 photo per guest included with your package) and advise you of the time and place to meet.  The photo will be on a formal evening.
  • For the days at sea, your group coordinator will nominate a meeting spot during the day for the group.  Example: morning meeting spot for a coffee meet-up or maybe an activity like meeting up for the rock climbing wall.

Please note, that your group coordinator is not a tour guide and does not provide tour guiding services.

ONBOARD ENTERTAINMENT:
There are two shows every night to cater for both dinner sittings. There is also other live entertainment at selected times throughout the ship.

The casino is open from 8:30pm till late. Each guest cabin receives a ‘Cruise Compass’ newsletter delivered daily and this gives guests the activities and entertainment planned for the following day.

You will enjoy this group experience with an estimated group size of 28 to 36 travellers.  This cruise is exclusively for single or solo travellers.

THE PACE  [1 out of 5]
This is graded with a pace of [1] which signifies a very leisurely holiday with no demanding walking or activities (unless by your own arrangement).

There is a mix of very relaxed days while at sea and other days when the ship docks or tenders at the shore destinations. The group enjoys evening dining together each evening in the main dining room plus the option to join pre dinner drinks ‘meet-ups’ and other group meeting arrangements made while onboard.

We ‘go the extra mile’ and offer a pre-departure group contact service. (See itinerary page for details).

ABOUT THE MEALS
It’s regular that our trips include welcome dinners and farewell dinners for our groups. In addition, we include other group dining experiences to ensure that everyone can enjoy the benefit of travelling and dining as a group.  There’s nothing better than to share a meal with new friends and discuss the day’s adventures.

For this cruise, evening group dining is available every evening. Please be sure to advise us at the time of booking of any special dietary requirements. We always do our best to accommodate special diet needs and in most cases, special dietary needs can be met. If you have any concerns please check with us before you book.

The ship’s main dining room offers vegetarian options and gluten free meals.

ONBOARD EXPENSE ACCOUNT
An Onboard Expense Account is the cashless system used for all on board purchases and services. Your SeaPass card acts as your onboard ID, stateroom/suite door key and your card to charge onboard purchases to.

The account may be set-up in advance through the online check-in process or at the pier when you check in. You can register either a credit card or set up a cash account.  We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Optima, Discover and Diner's Card.

You may establish a master account and add guests from your stateroom or even another stateroom, to be authorised purchasers on your account. Alternatively, guests in the same stateroom may each register their own credit card to their account.

For each purchase made on board the ship you will receive a receipt at the point of sale.  A final statement will be delivered to your stateroom on the last night of your cruise holiday for your review. You can check your account through your interactive stateroom TV during your cruise. If you are travelling on consecutive cruises, your account will be settled at the end of each cruise.

Guests that set up an account with a credit card should verify the statement.  If all purchases are correct, they will automatically be charged to the credit card registered.

Guests with a cash account will need to settle their statement onboard before disembarking.  The ship will provide you with specific details when you set up the cash account. Guests are required to place a cash deposit when setting up their account onboard. You can also use Traveller's Cheques to set up a cash account.
There is a daily spending limit set on cash accounts, dependant on cruise duration.

PERSONAL EXPENSES
In addition to your cruise inclusions you may have some personal expenses including shore excursions and drinks not included with the cruise plus consider souvenirs and miscellaneous expenses such as laundry.

When setting a budget for personal expenses consider what is and what is not included. This itinerary has a breakfast, lunch and dinner each day. Drinks, shore excursions and souvenirs would be an additional expense.

For anyone that enjoys some shopping there will be opportunities to purchase local items and these costs could be a small amount to a lot, all depending on personal preferences for travel shopping.
