Some of the points of interest during our tour will be the WACA, the Bell Tower and the Perth skyline from Kings Park where we see the 750 year old Boab Tree. This evening we will gather for pre dinner drinks at the hotel to meet our fellow travellers before our Welcome dinner.
DAY 2 - MONDAY 3 SEPTEMBER 2018
Perth – Mandurah – Busselton
We have a full and fun day ahead of us exploring the region south of Perth. Following breakfast, we travel to the popular holiday town of Mandurah, located on the vast Peel Inlet for a Scenic Canal Cruise, along the calm waterways, while admiring the impressive homes that are dotted along the canal. There’s even the chance of spotting the local bottle nose dolphins. After some free time for lunch (own expense) we head to Busselton for a walk along the Busselton Jetty - the longest timber piled jetty in the Southern Hemisphere and second in the world. We will visit the interpretative centre and there is also an opportunity to visit the Underwater Observatory (at your expense).
After a great day we head to our accommodation for an overnight stay. Dinner will be at the hotel tonight.

DAY 3 - TUESDAY 4 SEPTEMBER 2018
Busselton – Margaret River
Take breakfast at the hotel this morning and opt to make our own local discoveries. A walk along the beach is a fabulous way to begin the day. Mid-morning we head south, making a stop at the Margaret River Chocolate Company. They claim to have the “best chocolate brownies in Australia” here so we have time to take a look around and purchase ‘a cuppa’ if you like. Our next stop into the Margaret River wine region is to sample our first taste of their iconic wines. Why not begin with the best!? Our tasting and lunch has been arranged at Vasse Felix restaurant. Described as the benchmark winery restaurants in Australia, this draw-card establishment with executive chef Aaron Carr at the helm is sure to be an absolute gastronomic treat. The attraction here is not only the food but the beautiful surroundings. Before the day comes to an end we stop at Prevelly Beach to see where the Margaret River reaches the ocean, then we head into the township of Margaret River to check into our hotel for the next two nights.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
DAY 4 - WEDNESDAY 5 SEPTEMBER 2018
Continuing our discovery of Margaret River – there’s so much on offer so we’ve hand picked the top picks.
We arrive at Vasse Virgin (formerly Natural Olive Oil Soap Company) for an opportunity to see and feel the benefits of their natural hand-made skin care range as well as taste their range of scrumptious gourmet foods. We are definitely off to a good start this morning! Another short trip has us arriving at Bettenay’s Margaret River Nougat Company for a chance to taste some of the 32 flavour combinations.
This afternoon we arrive at The Grove Experience. Although once “just a winery” this place has evolved into so much more. It is a distillery, a brewery, boutique accommodation and a café. This is the perfect opportunity to purchase lunch and enjoy some tastings. We end our touring program with a visit to Brookwood Estate, established in 1996 as a family business. The wine maker is the daughter of the original owners and Bronnley Cahill is one of the new breed of women working in the wine industry. She is a qualified winemaker and makes Brookwoods premium wines as well as being involved in all aspects of the business. We enjoy a fun and informative tasting in the rustic cellar door. They offer a lot more than wine at this venue so why not try a taste “That Margaret River Stuff” too?
Returning to our accommodation there is a chance to freshen up before we venture out this evening. Dinner is a convenient short walk from our hotel to Arc of Iris. This eclectic restaurant is all about the wonderful local produce of Margaret River, so expect some amazing food sourced right here in the area from regional suppliers. Our dinner this evening is sure to be a highlight we will remember.
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
DAY 5 - THURSDAY 6 SEPTEMBER 2018
Margaret River - Cape Leeuwin - Pemberton
As we farewell Margaret River this morning we stop at the Margaret River Dairy Company, before driving to Pemberton through Boranup Karri Forest to Cape Leeuwin. This is the junction of the Indian and Southern Oceans and the land’s end of the South West. We take a guided tour of the lighthouse and admire the spectacular surrounds of this stunning coastal region. After time for a light lunch in the café it’s onwards to Pemberton, stopping at the Gloucester Tree - reputed to be the tallest tree-mounted fire lookout in the world. Standing at 61 metres tall, the Gloucester Tree is from the Karri family, which is the third tallest tree species in the world. It was pegged in 1946 so that people could climb it and use it as a watchtower for bushfires.
Tonight, we enjoy a relaxed dinner in the hotel restaurant.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
DAY 6 - FRIDAY 7 SEPTEMBER 2018
Pemberton – Fremantle
A bit of a fun foodie day today! Following breakfast, we visit the Wine and Truffle Co. As it is outside the end of truffle season we cannot hunt them but our guide will be most helpful when it comes to explaining the process of procuring them, including a dog demonstration. We will discover how to locate the rare and wondrous black truffle, which is often referred to as ‘black gold’ or ‘black diamond’. Our tour concludes with lunch in the Truffle Café and a wine tasting.
This afternoon we head to historic Fremantle. Arriving this afternoon gives us time to settle in and take a wander through the eclectic shops and cafes. It will be fun choosing which one to enjoy our dinner in tonight, but it’s totally up to us where we go.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
DAY 7 - SATURDAY 8 SEPTEMBER 2018
Once we have finished breakfast our first visit today is to the Fremantle Prison. We take a tour as we step inside and explore the prison from its convict origins in the 1850’s until its closure as a maximum security goal in 1991. We discover how time was passed in the yards while taking in original prisoner works of art. Our entertaining guide will be able to show us a lighter side of Prison humour as well. The visit is sure to have something of interest for everyone. The rest of the day is at leisure as there are so many unique places to explore in the short space of Fremantle centre. There is a multitude of exciting eateries in Fremantle so we have left the evening free for you to find one to enjoy.
