This discovery will have you covering the best of Norfolk Island.
Discovered by Captain James Cook around 1788, he described Norfolk Island as “Paradise”. However it was then soon to become a harsh penal colony and home to many convicts. These days it’s back to an island paradise full of history and culture. It’s home to the descendants of the Bounty Mutineers whose barefoot manners, warmth and hospitality have been woven into the island’s unique and timeless rhythm – a special charm that draws visitors back time and time again.
With its luscious rolling hills and turquoise lagoon, it truly is a beautiful place. Get ready to enjoy some unique discoveries including a visit to Australia’s iconic author Colleen McCulloughs home, go on an Island Adventure 4WD tour, see industry on the island, travel by glass bottom boat on the turquoise lagoon, and enjoy a breakfast bushwalk with your new-found friends.
With so much to offer, why wouldn’t you discover the treasures of Norfolk Island for yourself?

This morning, we embark on the world of Colleen McCullough, world renowned author of twenty four books. Colleen called Norfolk Island home for thirty six years. She and husband, a Norfolk Islander, Ric Robinson, created a luxurious hideaway and maintained their privacy to ensure that Colleen had the perfect environment for writing. Some of her most powerful titles were created in this much loved sanctuary.
Sadly Colleen passed away in 2015 after a long battle with illness. Nevertheless, she stoically continued writing for as long as she possibly could and fulfilled her great wish to remain on Norfolk Island. Her beloved “Our Yenna” is now open for guests to be escorted through her magnificent home and are able to view Colleen and Ric’s priceless collection of artefacts gathered on their travels all over the world. You will see where her books were researched and where she worked into the wee hours creating the incredible tales that have sold in their millions in so many different languages. You will learn about how Colleen enjoyed her Norfolk paradise and how it inspired her with its rich history and natural beauty. Learn too, how she gave back to Norfolk and touched many people’s lives.
This afternoon we embark on a Passions of Norfolk tour, visiting two amazing Island homes and exclusive access to the artists. You will see demonstrations, hear from the artists and admire print-making, painting and more. Delicious refreshments are also served during the tour at Seriously Chocolate.
Progressive Dinner Highlight Tonight we enjoy a progressive dinner. A legendary fixture on Norfolk Island itineraries - the perfect way to get a taste of the real Norfolk Island. This dinner will take you to three lovely homes in three completely different parts of the Island.
To begin, you will be taken to the Northern tip of the island to enjoy pre dinner nibbles at a clifftop home with amazing ocean views. Your host, a bounty mutineer descendant, will entertain you with his stories of life on Norfolk and his fascinating adventures.
Entrée is served at a family Island home, built by its current owner for her young family. As you enjoy her home cooked ‘wettles’ (food), she will tell you about her family and share her remarkable history and cultural heritage.
Your main course and dessert are enjoyed at a large family home in the south-east corner of Norfolk. While your hosts serve your meal and make you comfortable, a close family friend and local identity will reveal some of his Island experiences and tell you about some of the historical Norfolk practices and industries.
Meals: Breakfast, Highlight Dinner
This morning we take a breakfast bushwalk. A relaxed ramble through the park, along the Bridle Track which runs from Red Road to Captain Cook’s Memorial. Your local guide can help you identify local grasses, ferns, shrubs and trees as well as bird species. They will also explain the work of the National Park rangers and some of the challenges that they are working to overcome.
Your walk will take you through diverse habitats from rainforest to clifftops, between enormous pines and whitewoods and past majestic sea stacks, surrounded by seabirds. While the topography is hilly, the pace is relaxed and our guides cater to a range of fitness levels. Your efforts are also richly rewarded by a delicious barbeque breakfast with all the trimmings which awaits you at the Captain Cook Memorial.
This afternoon we head out for our Convict Kingston Tour. Learn about World Heritage Listed Kingston. Hear about the first settlers, the Polynesians who came 900 years ago. Learn about the first and second convict settlements and the facts and legends associated with each. Hear how Norfolk became home to descendants of the infamous ‘Bounty’ mutiny.
Tonight we enjoy a special Island fish feast. This evening, dine while perched on the clifftop with an eagle eyed view of the tiny crescent-shaped beach and the magnificent spread of ocean stretching to the far horizon.
The beautifully set tables will delight you – it’s the most glamorous picnic you will ever attend! And then the food! Scrumptiously fresh, local fish is prepared the local way in golden beer batter and accompanied with a range of seasonal island dishes including those passed down from Polynesian fore-mothers. Enjoy paddock to plate freshness. This extends even to dessert which is Norfolk Island pies made from local eggs and fruit in season. A cash bar offers wine, beer and juice, so you don’t even have to worry about bringing your own.
The feast kicks off with an entertainer and very talented Tahitian style dancers, silhouetted against the setting sun. And even when the sunset fails to dazzle, the singing and dancing will definitely set the tone for an evening of fun and relaxation.
After dinner, we take our lanterns for the Island’s Ghost Tour. Something is out there. As the night sets in and long shadows fall, come and take a ride to the other side. Step through a veil into the worst of all possible worlds, explore the crooked, cobbled nether-world of Norfolk’s dark and troubled past as we visit real haunted sites and hear real ghost stories which have for generations lain forgotten and abandoned – until now.
