Touring Physical Requirements
Touring is exciting and diverse and the best way to enjoy your travels is to be sure that you meet the minimum physical requirements required for touring.

In many destinations while touring could be walking on uneven surfaces such as cobble stoned streets, need to climb steep staircases, and/or walk up hills to reach attractions. Also, in some cities tourist transport has limited options for coach drop offs and pick ups and this may mean that travellers are required to walk some distance to reach attractions or hotels, even up to 15 minutes.

Some touring may not be suitable for travellers with mobility issues and/or low fitness levels.  If unsure about your suitability for the trip please contact us to seek further advice.

A minimum level of fitness is required to be able to participate. You are required to at least:

  • Be able to walk 2-3 hours on uneven surfaces without the use of any walking aid
  • Walk up multiple flights of stairs and short, steep hills
  • Stand for 20 minutes without needing to sit down, often in hot/humid climates
  • Carry your own luggage
  • Get on and off various modes of transport without assistance, including small boats

Passengers 70 years or over must provide a signed Fitness to Travel declaration form from their doctor within one month of making their booking.

While we will still confirm your place on your tour, flight tickets cannot be issued until both completed forms have been received. Additional costs may be incurred if completed forms are not received by Bunnik Tours within these time frames.

Bunnik Tours generally does not accept bookings for single travellers 80 years of age and over without a travelling companion. Neither our Tour Director nor your fellow travellers are equipped to act as a carer.

Passengers must inform us and the service provider of any medical conditions which may affect your ability to participate in the tour.

At our discretion we, including the service provider, can exclude you in a tour or in any activity if we consider that you are unable to safely participate in that tour or activity or if we consider your participation may place the safety of other guests at risk.

We exclude all liability for any illness, injury or death sustained by you on tour because of any pre-existing medical condition. You release us from all liability arising out of your medical condition, illness, or injury that you may suffer during the tour or as a result of the tour.

It’s regular that trips include welcome dinners and farewell dinners for our groups. In addition, there are some other group dining experiences to ensure that everyone can enjoy the benefit of travelling and dining as a group.  There’s nothing better than to share a meal with new friends and discuss the day’s adventures.

This is a private group tour with a driver and tour director. Your tour director is there to assist with group arrangements and to act as the liaison for all tour services. Locally based tour guides are also included.

Bus, steam train, caique boat, day cruise, overnight ferry & high-speed ferry

Due to the handling of luggage on our tours and coaches, checked baggage is limited to 20kg and a minimum of hand luggage.

One piece of carry-on luggage is permitted.

You may like to purchase a prepaid sim card to take with you while travelling. Otherwise, ask your phone provider about International Roaming packages/offers for your mobile phone.

SIM cards or international roaming packages can be good options to keep in touch with friends and family back home.  Be sure the sim card you purchase will cover all the countries you are travelling to.

Many hotels these days offer WiFi—some for free, others for a modest fee. Some hotels may provide wi-fi but it may be limited to public areas of the hotel.

If you don’t already use this service, we recommend downloading this application also. It’s a mobile phone App that offers fast, simple, secure messaging and calling for free (data charges may apply – ask your phone provider).

As a general indication, for many of our tours, our guides use WhatsApp to communicate with the group.

Visit our Travel Guide page on our website for destination information. You may also view our Destination Highlights.
