Solos Only

Your journey starts in Dublin, Ireland, joining fellow solo travellers on this small group roving journey through Ireland to Wales, England and Scotland.

Welcomed by your tour director, we cruise the old Grand Canal for a welcome dinner. Your touring of Ireland starts with the famous sights of Dublin and of course, there’s no place more apt than Dublin to visit a Guinness storehouse and then, a special ceilidh evening. From Dublin to kiss the famous Blarney stone before carrying on for the picturesque landscape around the Ring of Kerry and take a breather with a relaxing three night stay.  Your visit will uncover the charms of Ireland, then crossing the Irish Sea to Wales, England and Scotland.

Arriving to Chester, formerly a 1st Century Roman Fortress, you’ll feel like you’ve time-travelled as you walk the medieval streets and tudor rows. Onwards to Liverpool, a city made famous by the Beatles, then enter England’s Lake District in the north west corner, with mountains, valleys, villages, coastline and of course the lakes.

From the green lands of England to Scotland, try to understand what people say in Glasgow, and visit the renowned Battlefields of Bannockburn and the location for the Battle of Culloden. We make our way up to the Scottish Highlands and Scottish Isles to listen to the ghosts at Iona Abbey, the resting place of Gaelic kings including Macbeth.  Maybe catch a glimpse of Nellie at Loch Ness, and become a true Highlander by taking a wee dram on our distillery visit, and call in on every golfers’ mecca at St Andrews.

Our roving adventure ends at magnificent Edinburgh, where as a fitting finale we experience the world famous Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

Touring Physical Requirements
Touring is exciting and diverse and the best way to enjoy your travels is to be sure that you meet the minimum physical requirements required for touring.

For European touring, often you could be walking on uneven surfaces such as cobble stoned streets, need to climb steep staircases, and/or walk up hills to reach attractions. Also, in some cities tourist transport has limited options for coach drop offs and pick ups and this may mean that travellers are required to walk some distance to reach attractions or hotels, even up to 15 minutes.

European touring may not be suitable for travellers with mobility issues and/or low fitness levels.  If unsure about your suitability for the trip please contact us to seek further advice.

It’s regular that our trips include welcome dinners and farewell dinners for our groups. Porterage is not included on this tour and you must be able to manage your own luggage, in and out of hotels, at airports or other transfer points.

The majority or all hotels are expected to offer free wi-fi.

You may like to purchase a prepaid sim card to take with you while travelling. Otherwise, ask your phone provider about International Roaming packages/offers for your mobile phone.  SIM cards or international roaming packages can be good options to keep in touch with friends and family back home.  Be sure the sim card you purchase will cover all the countries you are travelling to.

Many hotels these days offer WiFi—some for free, others for a modest fee.

If you don’t already use this service, we recommend downloading this application also. It’s a mobile phone App that offers fast, simple, secure messaging and calling for free (data charges may apply – ask your phone provider). As a general indication, for many of our tours, our guides use WhatsApp to communicate with the group.
