This is because, after a massive fire in 1904, the entire city was rebuilt. While it may have lost its historic look, you'll find it certainly didn't lose any of its charm. There’s a charming harbour, towering fjords and mountains to complete the picturesque setting.

The One Thing You Don't Want To Miss
To see the history of Alesund and its people from the Stone Age to the 1900s, visit the Sunnmore Museum. It's an open-air museum with 50 original buildings from the late Middle Ages. It also has one of Norway's largest collections of replica fishing boats from 400 AD.

Other Fun Things To Do

  • See what life was like in Alesund before and after the big fire of 1904, at the Alesund Museum. Local fishing methods, shipbuilding and the German occupation from 1940 to 1945 are just some of the topics covered by the museum's exhibits.

About ‘Single Room’ Bookings – The Room Standard
If you are taking your own (single room) this is to let you know the good news!

Where many operators have smaller rooms for people that take a single room (just for 1 person), for our tour we don’t do this. In short, the single rooms are no lesser in standard than the rooms we have for 2 people sharing.

Single rooms in Scandinavia (and Europe) are usually a lot smaller and with only single beds. It’s common for it to be this way in Europe and Scandinavia. So, we make arrangements so this does not happen.

Hotel descriptions are taken from the hotel website and edited to suit our page.

The Train
Trains are often the fastest and most comfortable way of travelling to and from Arlanda. You can choose between high-speed trains, long-distance trains and commuter trains. All trains, except the Arlanda Express high-speed train, depart from and arrive to Arlanda Central Station. For more information, Visit Stockholm Arlanda Airport website.

Taxis are available directly outside all terminals. You’ll only find taxis at the taxi stand that have an agreement with Stockholm Arlanda Airport. Contact the taxi rank officer if you would like to have a specific taxi company or if you have any questions.

Price zone for taxi trips:

  • The maximum price for trips within the marked zone boundaries is SEK 675.
  • This price is for 1-4 passengers and to one address.
  • An additional 40-50% will be charged for 5-8 passengers.
  • Contact the taxi rank officer when you need a taxi for more than 4 passengers.
  • Always ask the driver before you start your trip about what price is in effect.
  • For travel outside the marked zone boundaries, the meter rate applies.

DEPARTURE – Copenhagen
If you book your flight with us, and travel on the group nominated flight a transfer from our hotel to the airport on the final day of the tour is provided. If you have made your own flight arrangements you can join this transfer, however a transfer service fee applies.

If you are not joining the group transfer, and making your own way to Copenhagen Airport there are public and private services to take you there.

If travelling by public transport you must know that Copenhagen airport is located in zone 4, which means that metro, trains and buses all require a valid 3 zone ticket to travel between the airport and inner Copenhagen.

The Train
Trains leave every 10 minutes during the day and 1-3 times an hour in the night, to the airport from Copenhagen. It takes about 13 minutes from Copenhagen Central Station.

The train arrives to terminal 3. There is a free shuttle bus from terminal 1 to 3 that takes about 5 minutes.

The Metro
From the city centre (Nørreport Station), the metro takes 13 minutes to reach the airport and you arrive to terminal 3. The metro runs every 4-6 minutes during the day and every 15-20 minutes at night.

It’s about 20 minutes from downtown Copenhagen and as a guide DKK250-300 for the ride.
