Inside Passage (CRUISING)

Cruising through the Inside Passage is really what has made Alaska cruising so popular. This trip captures so much of what people love about Alaska. There are glaciers the size of Luxembourg. Misty rain forests and ghostly blue fjords.  And spirited communities that celebrate their varied heritage. Make sure to take in every view as you sail through one of the most beautiful parts of Alaska.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Ketchikan, ALASKA. Docked 6am to 4pm

Ketchikan originated as an Indian fish saltery, but the town's major growth began when it became a supply base and entry port for miners during the 1898 Gold Rush to the Klondike. Much of the town's colourful past is still in evidence, especially in the nearby Indian villages, where you'll see colourful carved totem poles and hear the fascinating legends that surround them.

Icy Strait Point, ALASKA
Tendered 9am to 6pm

** shore excursion included today with your package **

Icy Strait Point is located near the city of Hoonah, the largest native Tlingit Indian settlement in Alaska, and very near Glacier Bay National Park. Home to a historic cannery, the port's connection to the sea is strong. Locals share the sea with humpback whales, orcas, Dall porpoises, seals, sea otters, halibut and all five species of Pacific salmon. It is not uncommon to spot a humpback or an orca while walking along the beach.

Icy Strait Whale Adventures

This is special!  We have hand selected a local, small group whale watching operator and included this excursion with your package.

This morning, our group joins Icy Strait Whale Adventures.  It is a natively owned and locally run whale watch operator from the town of Hoonah. Icy Strait Whale Adventures offers an intimate whale watching experience. The group sizes are small (compared to the ships that only offer big groups). You will enjoy the experience on a spacious vessel where you are guaranteed to not feel cramped.

Juneau, ALASKA. Docked 7am to 9:30pm

Juneau, the capital of Alaska, was founded during a gold rush in 1880. Today, the former gold-mining town, counts among its riches some of Alaska's most spectacular scenery. Nestled at the foot of Mt Juneau in the Alaska Panhandle, it faces the water from the mainland side of Gastineau Channel. Several magnificent fjords are located along the channel coast and the majestic Mendenhall Glacier, a favourite of visitors, is nearby.

Skagway, ALASKA
Docked 7am to 4:30pm

When gold was discovered in the Klondike region of the Yukon Territory (just across the border from Alaska), it resulted in the historic Gold Rush of 1898. As thousands of gold-crazed adventurers sought the best starting point for their arduous trek, they found the deepest penetration possible by boat was at the northern tip of the Lynn Canal. This is how Skagway was born.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Hubbard Glacier. Cruising 8am to 10am

The longest river of ice in North America, the Hubbard Glacier is also one of the most active glaciers of its kind in Alaska. Also, since our ships are designed to provide our guests with the best viewing possible, you'll be able to see this massive natural wonder, with its 1,350 square miles of blue ice, from just about anywhere on the ship.

TIP:  It’s cold outside on deck today. Most passengers like to be on deck to view the glacier. Have a warm coat/jacket and gloves and warm hat recommended.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Arrive Seward, Alaska. Transfer to Anchorage

Your cruise ship docks in the port of Seward early morning.   This morning a group transfer is provided to Anchorage where you will enjoy the evening at your leisure to make your own explorations.

On the way to Anchorage we stop in Portage and visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center where you see bears, buffalo, moose, and a variety of other animals in a beautiful natural setting. A guide from the centre will join the group to lead the tour, as well as to share the centre’s history and mission.

There will be a stop in the charming little ski town of Girdwood. While in Girdwood, we take a lunch break to enjoy any number of excellent and unique restaurants at the base area or take lunch at the top of the mountain.

This afternoon, we arrive in Anchorage. Between the mountains and the sea, almost in the centre of Alaska, lies Anchorage; Alaska's largest city, yet no stranger to the wilderness. Anchorage is a place with big-city amenities; restaurants, museums, theatres and an excellent music scene.

THE PACE  [2 out of 5]
On tour in Canada it’s considered an easy pace with some free time included throughout your tour. There are some days that are faster-paced than others and some days of long distance driving are required.

While cruising, the only set group activity is the evening dinner in the main dining room. The final 2 days in Alaska are leisurely.

It’s regular that our trips include welcome dinners and farewell dinners for our groups. In addition, we include other group dining experiences to ensure that everyone can enjoy the benefit of travelling and dining as a group.  There’s nothing better than to share a meal with new friends and discuss the day’s adventures.

While onboard Radiance of the Seas, there is set group dining time in the main restaurant of the ship.  You may also choose not to join the group but as courtesy we would ask that you let someone else in the group know when there’s any evenings you’ve decided not to join. We recommend the group discusses a pre-show meeting time for pre-show drinks.  A good time to make these arrangements is generally around 6:30pm.

Please be sure to advise us at the time of booking of any special dietary requirements. We always do our best to accommodate special diet needs and in most cases, special dietary needs can be met. However, in some destinations the variety of choice for certain special diets may be limited. If you are concerned please check with us before you book.

In Canada, it is a private group tour with a driver and tour director for your touring in Canada. Your tour escort is there to assist with group arrangements and to act as the liaison for all tour services.  During the 2 day Rocky Mountaineer journey the group escort will be travelling in Gold Leaf Class.

After your tour through Canada, you embark on your seven night cruise to Alaska. No group escort services are included however group dining in the main dining room is arranged each evening.

For the two day visit in Alaska from Seward to Anchorage, a tour escort is not included, rather a driver on day 1 and day 2 is departure day only.

While on tour in Canada travel is by private vehicle, the vehicle size will vary depending on the final group size.  For a group of 8-10 a minivan would be used, for a group of 10 -12 a 21 seater mini coach will be use and for a group of 12-15 or more a 24 seater coach will be used, between 15-24 passengers a 28 seater will be used, you will also have two days travel during the day by train on the Rocky Mountaineer.

Departing from Vancouver, there is a seven night cruise with the final destination, Seward, Alaska of United States of America.

Each guest is permitted to travel with one bag, limit of 30kg as a maximum per bag.

Please consider that flights for your tour may have a lesser allowance.

Visit our Travel Guide pages for Canada and Alaska on our website for destination information.
