✨ Pre-Cruise Festive Discovery Tour

Make the most of your time in Europe this Christmas with a journey that blends festive markets, grand cities, alpine beauty and the comfort of travelling with a small ‘Solos Only’ group.

Before you step aboard your Danube Christmas and New Year cruise, you’ll join this enchanting pre-cruise getaway from Frankfurt to Passau, discovering some of Germany and Austria’s most atmospheric destinations in the magic of December.

Experience the joy of Europe’s Christmas Markets in full swing, beginning with Frankfurt’s historic old quarter, then travelling on to Würzburg and its charming market stalls before settling in for a three-night stay in Nuremberg. From here, explore the fairytale lanes of Rothenburg ob der Tauber and soak up the festive spirit at the world-famous Christkindlesmarkt.

Continue your journey into Bavaria and across to Austria, where snow-covered peaks rise above pastel-coloured towns. Enjoy time in Munich, then venture deeper into the Alps to visit Neuschwanstein Castle, Oberammergau and Germany’s highest mountain, Zugspitze. Your stay in Innsbruck brings a true taste of winter in the Austrian Alps, wrapped in what locals call Alpenzauber, a blend of alpine charm, crisp mountain air and the cosy warmth that makes this season feel so special.

With picture-perfect scenery, festive lights, local traditions and incredible contrasts from city to countryside, this is a beautifully paced way to begin your European Christmas celebration. Your cruise awaits in Passau, but the memories begin long before you step aboard.

Thank you for recruiting such a great group of people for my travelling companions. The hotels were clean and very comfortable and it was a pleasure to be transported across such an amazing landscape so comfortably.
