Medications
Japan has strict rules about bringing medicine into the country, including some ingredients in ADHD and cold and flu medication. If you plan on bringing in medication, check if it's legal before you travel.
See the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare for more information.

If you are travelling with prescription medication, check the value and quantity restrictions on the import and export of prescription medication with the nearest embassy or consulate for your destination. These checks are the responsibility of each passenger.

Medications – General Advice
General advice for all destinations. For each country of your intended travel enquire from Government sources about limits or restrictions for any medications you are bringing with you (prescribed and over the counter). Allow sufficient time in case of approval processes.

  • Prescription Requirement: Carry a valid prescription from a licensed medical practitioner.
  • Documentation: Have medical documents detailing the necessity of the medication, such as a diagnosis or treatment plan.
  • Quantity Limit: Refer to each government for any limits on quantity and restrictions of medications
  • Over-the-Counter Medications: Consider that common medications available in your own country can be a controlled or restricted medication in other countries. Verify their status before travelling.
