TIPPING

Tipping is customary in Mexico for tour personnel. We respect local customs and your tour package includes tipping (gratuities) for our tour service personnel; your group tour guide, drivers, local guides, hotel bellboys and room attendants.

To give you an idea of our tipping inclusions, and also a guide for when you are making your own arrangements, here is some helpful information. The amounts are in USD for convenience, but you would exchange this to equate to the value in the local currency, the Mexican peso.

Guides: For private services USD5-7 per day (or 10-20% of the tour cost), if in a larger group USD3-5 per day.

Drivers: USD3-5 per day, dependent on group size.

Restaurants: Round up your bill for local eateries, and for tourist establishments and fine dining, up to 10% of the total bill.

PERSONAL EXPENSES
In addition to your tour inclusions you will have some personal expenses including meals, snacks and drinks not included with the tour package. Also consider souvenirs and miscellaneous expenses such as laundry.

When setting a budget for personal expenses consider what meals are included and not included. This itinerary includes daily breakfast. There are also a good number of other main meals (lunch or dinner) included.

We recommend USD25-55 per day for personal expenses not included with the tour package (depending on your dining choices).  You should increase this budget if you like to enjoy alcoholic beverage with your meal.

For anyone that enjoys some shopping there will be opportunities to purchase local items and these costs could be a small amount to a lot, all depending on personal preferences for travel shopping.

Working Out Your Budget

Lunch & Dinner
Lunch or dinner to go (takeaway) is good value at local eateries and can be under USD5.  If you eat in at a local café, as a guide USD5-USD10.  If you choose to dine at tourist restaurant, expect USD10+.  For dinners in local restaurants of a higher standard expect to budget up to USD20-25.

Dining in hotels four star and above will incur higher costs, as will fine dining restaurants.

Likewise, if you want to eat locally at simple establishments you can reduce your budget from the indicative amounts above and eat very inexpensively.
