Is this trip right for you?  You want to get it right, and find a trip that matches your travel style. These pointers will help you decide if this trip is right for you.

ABOUT THE GROUP

  • This is a small group experience with a maximum of 14 solo travellers.
  • You’re a match for the nominated age group for this trip; travellers 40 years and over.
  • You enjoy the benefits of travelling as a small group, including dining together and sharing the journey.

TOURING QUICK FACTS

Weather

  • Temperature can vary a lot throughout the year and regions of Mexico – consider all destinations you are visiting and consider your trip may have cool and hot climates.
  • Throughout the year many parts of Mexico can be hot to very hot during the day. In particular, the Yucatan Peninsula. Be prepared by packing comfortable, breathable and light clothing.
  • It's a good idea to pack layers for cooler areas, such as the highland region of San Cristóbal de las Casas. Temperatures overnight are markedly cooler than the day.

Accommodation

  • Hotels are a superior standard and are higher grade 3 star and 4 star hotels. There is only a lower standard when higher grade hotels are not available in the destination.

Physical challenges:

  • One of the travel days includes a windy road between San Cristóbal de las Casas and Palenque and we recommend motion sickness medication or therapies if you suffer from travel sickness. There is a stop along the way.
  • You’re a traveller that knows to see the highlights some longer days of road travel are a part of the discovery.

Local Food

  • Chilli spice or hot pepper is used in some Mexican cooking.
  • Most spicy or ‘hot’ food is usually as a side option – adding the chilli or pepper by choice rather than included in the meals.
  • Maize flour (corn flour) is used mostly in tortillas rather than flour making tortillas suitable for gluten free diets.

ANIMAL WELFARE

  • You are in favour of our policy that we do not support activities that involve animals for tourist entertainment.

SOAKING UP CULTURE & TRADITION

  • You enjoy learning new things such as the history and culture of another country.
  • When visiting cathedrals, modest attire should be worn.
