PERU

Free import

  • Medicines for personal use only
  • For passengers over 18 years of age:
    - 20 packets of cigarettes or 5 cigars or 250 grams of shredded or threaded tobacco for smoking
    - 3 litres of alcohol
  • Other goods for personal consumption or gifts with a total value not exceeding USD 300 and • One item not exceeding value of USD 100
  • 2 kg of not prohibited foodstuff
  • Electrical items for personal use (no more than 1 per person)
  • Phonographic records, magnetic tapes, compact discs or cassettes, up to a total maximum of ten (10) units
  • 5 visual recording cartridges (camera or camcorder rolls/cassettes)

Prohibited

  • Sausages, salami, ham and cheese is allowed if holding original sanitary certificate issued by the manufacturer.
  • Raw ham from Italy and Portugal

Restricted

  • Pets
    Cats and dogs must be accompanied by a veterinarian good health certificate, rabies vaccination certificate and if applicable other vaccinations issued at the point of origin.
  • Passengers carrying animals are required to fill a legal form on arrival, declaring that the animal has not been fed with bovine meat, if arriving from: Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Rep., Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland (Rep. of), Israel, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom (incl. Channel Isl., Isl. of Man and Northern Ireland) or the U.S.A. It is strongly recommended that appropriate and exhaustive research is done prior travelling with animals.
  • Currency Import regulations
    There is no restriction for brining local currency (Peruvian Nuevo Sol-PEN) or foreign currencies however amounts exceeding USD 10,000.- or equivalent in other currency must be declared.

BRAZIL

Free import

  • 400 cigarettes or
  • 25 cigars or
  • 250 grams of tobacco
  • 24 units of alcoholic beverages – units classified as either 75cl or 1 litre bottles
  • 10 units of makeup items
  • Clothes and other articles for personal use
  • Books and periodicals
  • Local and foreign currency greater than BRL 10,000 will need to be declared when entering or leaving the country

Prohibited

  • Illegal drugs
  • Guns, explosives and ammunition
  • Knives and deadly weapons
  • Fresh fruit and vegetables
  • Plant and plant products
  • All species of birds
  • Pets and animals – unless authorise
  • Dairy products including milk, egg and cheese
  • Fish and fish products
  • Cigarettes or alcoholic beverages of Brazilian origin
  • Counterfeit money and goods
  • Hazardous materials
  • Pornographic material

Restricted

  • Flower, plants and plants products will require permission from the Ministry of Agriculture before being granted admission into the country.
  • Meat, egg or fish products will all also require permission from the Ministry of Agriculture before entering the country.
  • Cats, dogs and other animals being imported will need an international health certificate from the country of origin which was issued less than 10 days prior to their arrival. Pets 90 days or older will also require a Rabies vaccination certificate issued 30 days prior to the intended date of arrival.

ARGENTINA

Free import
The following items can be freely imported into the country by travellers from Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay or Uruguay or by residents returning to Argentina after more than a year away.

  • 1 litre of alcoholic beverages;
  • 200 cigarettes and
  • 25 cigars;
  • 2 k food products

Travellers entering Argentina from other countries than the ones mentioned above can import the following.

  • 2 litres of alcoholic beverages;
  • 400 cigarettes and 50 cigars;
  • 5 kgs food.

  • Illegal drugs
  • Weapons and ammunition – permission required
  • Explosives
  • Knives and deadly weapons
  • Meat or meat products from any animal species i.e. sausages, cold cuts, ham
  • Milk and dairy products
  • Fresh fruit and vegetables
  • Trees, plants and plant products
  • New Computers
  • Colour and new TV’s
  • Soil
  • Counterfeit money and good
  • Pornographic material

Restricted

  • Firearms and ammunition being imported into the country will require authorization by the Registro Nacional de Armas (RENAR) (National Firearms Bureau). The application will need to be supported by the appropriate firearms certificate of the country of residence and will need to be declared at the customs department. An additional ARS 200 fee per firearm will likely have to be paid at this point.
  • Dogs and cats require an official veterinary health and vaccination certificate to be presented by the owner on arrival. However, pets less than three months of age do not require a rabies vaccination certificate.
  • Mobile phones being imported into the country will need permission from the customs department before being granted entry.
