When Strangers Become Friends

Solo Travel, when strangers become friends

Something struck a chord with me today.  It was a Facebook post from some recent solo travellers from one on our short weekend escapes.  Three lovely ladies from our recent Easter trip to the Hunter Valley (NSW, Australia) were out for walk and brunch together at Bondi Beach. I saw their Facebook check-in at Lush On Bondi (Bondi Beach).

Maria, Nicole and Vera didn’t know each other before our trip. Yet, it’s just some weeks later and they are catching up like old friends.   It was extra sweet when they posted a photo of themselves at the café with the message ‘Hello Justine Waddington.’ I felt a bit special when they sent the post just for me.

I think I’ve lost track of how many trips I’ve hosted and how many new travellers I’ve meet over the years. However I never forget the lasting impression of seeing new friendships form when stangers become friends after joining our trips.

It was today’s post that served as a welcome reminder of just how many friendships are formed on our holidays.  What I’ve learnt over the years is that when single travellers start out as strangers they are not strangers for long.  It’s usually only the sake of a few hours before you’re friends and often lifetime friendships are created.

The Facebook post today was a reminder of just one of many friendships I’ve been witness to over the years.  I know of travellers still in touch since our first trips in 2006 and 2007.

Thanks ladies…. you brought a smile to my face!  It was a special reminder why I love creating our trips for solo travellers and why I get such a buzz from each and every group that we send off on holidays, be it a short trip or a once in a lifetime experience.  I know that our solo travellers will be coming home with new friends.

Thanks for reading!
